On May 10, OOIDA Executive Vice President Lewie Pugh testified before the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee during a hearing discussing the trucking industry’s role in the supply chain. OOIDA’s testimony focused on expanding truck parking capacity, pushing back against any speed limiter mandate, and helping truckers get paid for all the time they spend on the job.
The hearing was an opportunity for OOIDA to discuss some of the association’s top legislative and regulatory priorities, and it was clear Congress is paying attention. Many Representatives voiced support for H.R. 2367, the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act, asked how costly regulations were hurting the trucking industry, and why trucking is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
